The Best Part of CES?…The PodTech BlogHaus
I just got back from the Consumer Electronics Show. This show is huge with enough gadgets to keep any geek busy for days. Despite this, my favorite part was not in the show at all. It was the BlogHaus.
What’s a BlogHaus? It’s a great example of PR in the new media age. PodTech put together the perfect haven for the blogging crowd during an otherwise exhausting and chaotic event, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. They provided the essentials: food, drinks, shwag and massive connectivity. It was a place to kick back, network and post all your media from the day’s activities.
The BlogHaus was located in a suite at the Bellagio which lent a certain swankiness to the experience, not to mention the mystique of needing to be on a list just to get up the elevator. I went to the BlogHaus for the first time Wednesday morning and didn’t leave until my flight out that night. I already had my taste of the show floor the day before, so the allure of catering and good conversation won out (in addition to the fact that my legs didn’t want to tackle the vastness of the event again).
So was BlogHaus a success? Despite the requirement of being on the “list” (which only worked in their favor in my opinion) hundreds of bloggers dropped by. This is well over the 30-40 they originally hoped for. That’s a lot of "influencers" in one place. One video clip from Jeremiah Owyang shows over five video cameras going at once during one evening’s festivities. In addition to bloggers, the likes of Newsweek dropped by.
