I Was “Boomed” (or What PME Was All About)

Thursday, October 05th, 2006

I’m a bit behind on the punch here, but my mug appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Rocketboom. It’s a nice montage of video comments from PME attendees about what they enjoyed from the event. If you didn’t get a chance to attend, check it out. I think it will give you a taste of the energy that was present.

Book Sales at the Podcast Expo Were Hot

Thursday, October 05th, 2006

My publisher had a booth on the expo floor. I did two singings over the weekend. I was told that we sold every book we had with us at the show. We sold 110+ books in two days. Very exciting. Thank you to all those who dropped by and bought a book or said "hi." Also, a big thanks to StreetIQ and Audible who each sponsored a book signing and bought books to give out.

Portable Media & Podcast Expo: Ron Moore of Battlestar Galactica

Interesting snippets from Ronald Moore’s Keynote Speech

He decided that he wanted the Battelestar Galactica podcast to be an honest thing. He would really pull back the curtain and show behind the scenes. He cites the "Black Market" episode as an example where he was blunt about how he wasn’t happy with the final product of the show. He recognized that people who subscribe to the podcast want something new and different and deserve to hear this kind of content.

At first the podcast was just more work. His blog had become a "chore" for him already. But he has come to enjoy making the podcast. Now he looks at it as the final act in creating an episode.
