Consolidate Your FeedBurner Feeds Under One Account

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

FeedBurner just announced a new feature that I’ve been wanting for quite awhile. Now you can transfer a feed from one account/login to another. If you’ve been using separate logins for different feeds, you know that it can be a pain to deal with. (Or maybe you were smarting than me and just used one account to begin with.) The process, however, is not as straight forward as outlined on their site.

GigaVox Audio is Now Podango Show Builder | Beta Re-Opens

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Podango Show BuilderIn the past I’ve mentioned a tool, GigaVox Audio lite, that I use to publish my show that gives me increased flexibility and cuts down on my publishing workflow time. Now you can again sign up for a free new account on this very handy system.

Right after I mentioned GigaVox, earlier this year, they closed their beta system to new accounts. I soon discovered that it was because Podango (a company I have consulted for) bought the GigaVox Audio Lite technology. This was great news since I was one person encouraging Podango to integrate this technology into their system. To my surprise they went ahead and bought it.

What Podcasters Need to Know About the Acquisition of FeedBurner by Google

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Techcrunch has confirmed that Google is in fact buying FeedBurner.

Feedburner is in the closing stages of being acquired by Google for around $100 million…The information we have is that the deal is now under a binding term sheet and will close in 2-3 weeks, and there is nothing that can really derail it at this point.

Podcast Mastery Network: Presenting the Best in Podcasting Tips for Podcasters

Thursday, March 01st, 2007

Some podcasting colleagues and I have put together a collection of the best “how to” content for podcasters to be syndicated as an ongoing podcast station on Podango called the Podcast Mastery Network (this link won’t be active until Mar 5th). I’ve asked some of my favorite podcasters to participate in the station and share their best podcasting tips and tricks.

The station will include content from Paul Colligan (Podcast Tools & Profitable Podcasting), John Havens (About.com Guide to Podcasting), Charles Stricklin (Podcast Planning), Leesa Barnes (Podonomics) and myself. The station launches on March 5th.

A Great Podcast Marketing Tool Just Got Better | The All New Headline Animator

Saturday, December 02nd, 2006

In Promoting Your Podcast, I talk about a very useful tool from FeedBurner called the Headline Animator. This is a widget that you can use to promote your podcast (for example in your forum or email signature). It automatically scrolls through the titles of the last five posts on your feed.

Well, this tool just got more useful not too mention more aesthetically pleasing. Now you can: (more…)

Dinner with Podango

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Podango LogoThis past week I had the pleasure of dining with Lee Gibbons and Doug Smith, who head up Podango, at the world famous Carmines next to Times Square. We batted around some ideas and I got a chance to pick their brains about their new company.

In brief, Podango is creating numerous podcast stations. Each station is focused on an area of interest, produced by a station director and aggregated from a variety of quality podcasts (with permission of the content creators). The goal is to make things easier for the audience to find content that interests them, for the advertiser to find quality content to sponsor and for the podcasters to make money.

Libysn to be Acquired by Wizzard Software

Friday, October 27th, 2006

In an interesting bit of news, a press release has been put out announcing that Libsyn (a pioneer in podcast hosting) will be acquired by Wizzard Software (who specialize in speech software). This doesn’t strike me as the most obvious of match ups, but it sounds like they have some things planned. From the press release:

The acquisition combines the world’s largest and fastest growing podcast network with Wizzard’s expertise in speech technology integration, creating a powerful new service for podcasters worldwide.

Podcast Transcripts

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

During my presentation at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo, I talked about the importance the text content on your site for getting exposure in the search engines. One strategy I suggested was getting transcriptions of your podcasts and posting them on your site/blog. Here are examples of some podcasts using transcripts:

PodShowPro: Frankly, I’m Confused

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

I’ve been watching and waiting for awhile to see what PodShow’s grand scheme is. Of course they want to be a media network that provides a number of quality media properties. They also have the Podsafe Music Network–a great service but horrible web site. No one thing they have done has really blown me away.

Now they’ve launched PodShowPro and I have to say that I don’t get it. I have a simple business philosophy when it comes to a web page, service, marketing…whatever. The purpose should be clear. When I visit a site, the purpose should be clear. What is being offered (benefits) should be clear. What they want me to do (call to action) should be clear.

Gizmo Project: All Calls Free to 60 Countries

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Do you want a free way to call anybody in the world and record an interview from your computer? Gizmo Project is the answer.

Skype competitor Gizmo Project announced yesterday that they are now offering free calls from your computer to any land line or mobile in 60 countries. Earlier this year Skype announced free calls in Canada and US until the end of 2006. I imagine Skype will have to rethink their strategy now. I’m not sure how Gizmo Project can offer this or what their business model is, but it’s sure to shake things up when it comes to Internet telephone.
