On October 31st Yahoo will shut down their podcast directory. I just noticed this on their site.
I can’t say I am surprised. It has floundered for some time and it is just as well. Previously I placed them in my top ten most important directories because…well…it’s Yahoo!.
Paul Colligan points out that PodShow is gearing up to put their content on Tivo. I’ve been luke warm about PodShow in the past, but this is definitely an impressive coup for PodShow’s content creators as well as podcasting in general.
For podcasting to bust into the next growth spurt in adoption, consumption needs to be as easy as dialing up the radio or selecting a channel on TV. Well, I’d say this give us more of that which is always a good thing.
The podcasting event of the year is almost upon us. The Podcast and New Media Expo returns for its third round, this time as a three-day event. If you haven’t made plans yet to attend, I highly encourage you to consider doing so. I’ve attended a lot of trade/industry shows and the ones with podcasters are always the most fun. This is the podcasting event not to miss.
