Rumor Mill: Google to Release Adsense for Podcasts
Monday, October 30th, 2006The rumors have been buzzing in the blogosphere that, before the end of the year, Google will release an AdSense-like service for podcasts and streaming audio. Right now there’s more speculation than details.
This probably means: (more…)
Dinner with Podango
Sunday, October 29th, 2006
This past week I had the pleasure of dining with Lee Gibbons and Doug Smith, who head up Podango, at the world famous Carmines next to Times Square. We batted around some ideas and I got a chance to pick their brains about their new company.
In brief, Podango is creating numerous podcast stations. Each station is focused on an area of interest, produced by a station director and aggregated from a variety of quality podcasts (with permission of the content creators). The goal is to make things easier for the audience to find content that interests them, for the advertiser to find quality content to sponsor and for the podcasters to make money.
Libysn to be Acquired by Wizzard Software
Friday, October 27th, 2006In an interesting bit of news, a press release has been put out announcing that Libsyn (a pioneer in podcast hosting) will be acquired by Wizzard Software (who specialize in speech software). This doesn’t strike me as the most obvious of match ups, but it sounds like they have some things planned. From the press release:
The acquisition combines the world’s largest and fastest growing podcast network with Wizzard’s expertise in speech technology integration, creating a powerful new service for podcasters worldwide.
Don’t Ask Your Site Visitors to “Subscribe” to Your Podcast

Keeping Track of Your Podcasting To Dos and Production Schedule
Thursday, October 19th, 2006
I’ve been looking for an online tool to help me keep track of everything I’m doing with three podcasts, two new businesses, book promotion and speaking gigs…not to mention the rest of my life (yes I have one).
I’ve found a great solution: Remember the Milk. This online to do list organizer is intuitive, well-designed and has all the features I’ve been looking for. I can access it from anywhere I have Internet access. It exports to iCal, provides feeds and can Skype or email you reminders. And that is just the beginning of it.
Podcast Transcripts
Wednesday, October 11th, 2006During my presentation at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo, I talked about the importance the text content on your site for getting exposure in the search engines. One strategy I suggested was getting transcriptions of your podcasts and posting them on your site/blog. Here are examples of some podcasts using transcripts:
ZohoWriter - A New Tool for Outlining My Podcasts
Tuesday, October 10th, 2006I’ve started using ZohoWriter to prepare my show outlines before I record. This is a slick online writing tool. You can edit documents and save them online with all the basic word processing features you would expect. There are three reasons I like using it:
- I can edit my outline at anytime on any computer
- I can easily export my outline as HTML for use in my show notes
- There is a collaborative feature allowing more than one person to edit a document (very hand for Internet Business Mastery where I have a co-host)
I Was “Boomed” (or What PME Was All About)
Thursday, October 05th, 2006I’m a bit behind on the punch here, but my mug appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Rocketboom. It’s a nice montage of video comments from PME attendees about what they enjoyed from the event. If you didn’t get a chance to attend, check it out. I think it will give you a taste of the energy that was present.
Book Sales at the Podcast Expo Were Hot
Thursday, October 05th, 2006My publisher had a booth on the expo floor. I did two singings over the weekend. I was told that we sold every book we had with us at the show. We sold 110+ books in two days. Very exciting. Thank you to all those who dropped by and bought a book or said "hi." Also, a big thanks to StreetIQ and Audible who each sponsored a book signing and bought books to give out.
